John Pearson was a faculty member of the Physics Department. He was killed in an avalanche from a mountain above the Monarch Glacier near Bella Coola, about 400 kilometres north of Vancouver. "Killed in the May 17 avalanche were: John Pearson, 42, the chair of Kwantlen College's physics department; his wife Janet Noakes, a 42-year-old Richmond doctor; and Brian Waddington, 34, a Vancouver geophysicist." (Calgary Herald, May 24, 1996, p.A3). Included in file: copies of newspaper articles about the tragedy.
